Revista Complutense de Estudios Franceses </em>(ISSN 1139-9368, ISSN-e 1989-8193) is a journal published every six months that took its current name in 1998 when it broke away from the former <em>Revista de Filología Francesa, </em>published by the Universidad Complutense Madrid’s French Studies Department, founded in 1992. It compiles research studies in French, English and Spanish, on the French language and literature and in relation to other artistic-cultural and literary fields. It also publishes studies on civilisation, linguistics, translation and didactics of the French language. Considering the scarcity of comprehensive diachronic analyses, this case study advocates for the value of such an approach. To that end, it analyzes a range of texts from various genres and types, including reviews, journalistic publications, peritexts, censorship reports, and Carco’s own works in both French and Spanish. The analysis is organized into three periods: the 1920s–1930s, the Franco regime, and the democratic era. Based on our interest in the recovery of forgotten contemporary voices and cultural transfers between France and Spain, we will examine, using a sociological methodology, the dissemination and reception of Gabrielle Wittkop’s work in Spain. On the one hand, we will give an account of the reasons that have relegated her work to silence in its original language. The translation was published by the <em>Presses de l’Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour</em> in 2022. The study is divided into three sections and a brief conclusion. First, it justifies the selection of Gil and his two books, explaining the uniqueness of both the author’s personality and the selected texts, as well as the relevance of introducing them to a French-speaking audience. Next, it outlines the methodology used in translating both works. Finally, it examines the characteristics of the French translations of Gil’s books, highlighting the challenges posed by translating this genre. Translators, writers, researchers and editors participate in this dynamic of protest and subversion of traditionally accepted cultural representations, delegitimizing them.</p> <p>In addition to commercial initiatives, they challenge the system, rehabilitating through translation forgotten or unknown voices in Galician literature. The aim of this paper is to study the recovery of a peripheral female poet through her inclusion in an anthology dedicated to her generation. To this end, the first part outlines the vital and poetic trajectory of María Cegarra Salcedo. Secondly, the role of anthologies in the construction of the poetic canon linked to the generation of 27 is examined. However, his bilingual collection of poems <em>Versión Celeste</em>, published in 1970, is the only one published in Spain. This date is late in relation to a body of poetic work that can be broadly placed between 1919 and 1932, when the choice of French as the language of poetry was confirmed. Our aim is to examine the ups and downs of this long-running publication, leading to a reflection on the poet's relationship with language and translation, through the ‘strangeness’ of the poetic language. Anselmo Lorenzo, 1902): Paradoxes of a Timeless Libertarian Children’s Book https://revistas.ucm.es/index.php/THEL/article/view/100787 <p>In 1901, at the request of the libertarian educationalist Francisco Ferrer Guardia, Jean Grave wrote <em>Las aventuras de Nono</em> for young people. The novel sketches out an alternative society between Argyrocracy and Autonomy. Its translation into Spanish by Anselmo Lorenzo was immediately published by the École moderne in 1902. Published in France by Stock in 1901, Jean Grave's text was not republished until 2017 by Éditions Noir et Rouge (Paris). On the other hand, the translation was republished in Spain in 1980 by the publisher José J. de Olañeta (Barcelona), by MCA (Valencia) in 2000, then by Libertarias (Madrid) in 1991 and, more recently still, in 2013. Drawing on the theories of Foucault (<em>heterotopia</em>), Augé (<em>non-places</em>), and Bhabha (<em>third space</em>), the study reveals three key dimensions: Iran as a traumatic space, where homes, prisons, and cities embody both patriarchal oppression and symbolic resistance; intermediate spaces (Istanbul, Dubai, transit zones), acting as laboratories of hybrid identities, exposing both the violence and potential of migratory journeys; and France, an ambivalent mirror where idealization clashes with disillusionment, torn between difficult integration and spatial marginalization. The article highlights the political significance of these spatial representations, where places become narrative operators that unveil mechanisms of domination and strategies of self-reinvention. By analyzing his novels through the prism of these three axes, this study reveals how the author gives a voice to excluded figures, subverts national narratives and sheds light on the complex identity quests shaping Morocco today. The body, often marked by suffering, becomes a site of identity affirmation and resistance. Space, from shantytowns to places of detention, reveals social inequalities and power dynamics. Language, hybrid and mixed, reveals itself as a tool of subversion and reappropriation. In addition to Orpheus and Oedipus, which have haunted his writing throughout his career, in all artistic fields - poetry, theatre, film, drawing - the myth of Theseus often appears in his work to represent the ordeal of the creative act that takes place halfway between the ordinary world and a mysterious beyond (the labyrinth), where the poet may meet death, or between consciousness and the inner dedalic abysses. His work is fully in line with literary modernity. As a novelist, he has constantly sought to explore new avenues, to adopt innovative, distinct, and original writing strategies that reflect his inspirations and aspirations, his taste and temperament. His hybrid writing is characterized by a crossing of forms and a mixture of genres. It is a writing where poetry, myth, storytelling, polyphony, and humor intertwine. All of this gives Leftah's novels a unique and profoundly innovative identity. Y si bien comenzó siendo la pieza angular en la enseñanza de idiomas, también pasó a ser denostada en los años 1960 y 1970 del pasado siglo debido al auge del enfoque comunicativo. En efecto, si lo primordial cuando se aprende una lengua es comunicarse y hacerse entender, ¿qué papel se debe asignar a la gramática? Y, sobre todo, si esta ha de enseñarse, ¿cómo afrontar la enseñanza gramatical en el aula de lenguas? En los últimos años, la enseñanza de la gramática ha resurgido con fuerza en las aulas de lenguas primeras y extranjeras, y su presencia como tal ya no se cuestiona. The aim is to show how such text-based activities give meaning to grammatical learning, in this case the function of noun phrase complement, and contribute to its conceptualisation. In such activities, teachers point to the knowledge, first using designations taken from everyday language or from the world of the classroom, and then formalise the knowledge by using specific meta terms. The “Profil de scripteur” (<em>Writer’s Profile</em>) tool combines four synergistic features that allow teachers to differentiate their instruction of these strategies to meet their students’ needs. This article describes the implementation practices reported by secondary school teachers (students age: 12-16). Results, collected via questionnaire and group interview, show that most of the teachers use three of the four tools. Teachers report that the “Profil de scripteur” helps them to better plan and teach revision strategies. However, they offer students a one-size-fits-all approach to self-correction rather than tailoring it to the needs observed with the “Profil de scripteur” tools. The sequence focuses on the discursive genre “menu” and aims to develop metalinguistic and interlinguistic reflection among students in a French-Spanish bilingual school. The SDGE was implemented by a student teacher during her initial training. The specific objectives of the study are to explore the potential of this intervention device to promote reflective learning among students, examine achievements in children’s writing, and assess the successes and challenges of the teacher’s intervention. Revista Complutense de Estudios Franceses https://revistas.ucm.es/index.php/THEL/article/view/98709 Thu, 04 Dec 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Fostering Metalinguistic Reflection of 1st-year Compulsory Secondary Education Students in a Plurilingual Context https://revistas.ucm.es/index.php/THEL/article/view/98662 <p>This article presents the results of the implementation of a grammar teaching sequence designed according to the Egramint prototype (SDGE) in a public school of the Valencian Community; in particular, it analyses the role of oral interaction in French and Spanish to bring out the students’ cross-linguistic metalinguistic reflection. The SDGE was implemented in the 1<sup>st</sup>-year Compulsory Secondary Education French as a Second Foreign Language classroom and dealt with audiodescription and the linguistic forms required by this discursive genre (present indicative, adjectives). Classroom recordings of interactions between pupils and with the teacher, their productions and an interview with the teacher show that oral interaction does indeed promote metalinguistic reflection on the functioning of all the languages the pupils know. Through exploratory speaking, and thanks to the scaffolding provided by the teacher throughout the sessions, the pupils construct meanings on the basis of joint reflection.</p> Raquel Sanz Moreno Copyright (c) 2025 Thélème. Durante doce capítulos, los escritores y escritoras examinan métodos pedagógicos innovadores que incorporan recursos digitales en auge, métodos colaborativos, dinámicas interculturales y visiones discursivas críticas, siempre manteniendo un compromiso evidente con la inclusión, la multimodalidad y la adaptación a los nuevos entornos sociotecnológicos.</p> <p>La disposición del volumen facilita una lectura estructurada en tres grandes secciones temáticas: la primera analiza el efecto de la inteligencia artificial generativa y otras tecnologías en la enseñanza del FLE; la segunda, las técnicas de colaboración y motivación, y la tercera, las prácticas culturales y discursivas implementadas. Resaltan propuestas educativas fundamentadas en la generación de contenidos, la aplicación de plataformas interactivas, la elaboración de podcasts, el estudio de mitos en línea o la reflexión acerca del bilingüismo.</p> <p>El libro proporciona un balance sólido entre la teoría y la práctica, con vivencias principalmente del contexto hispanohablante, y se muestra como un recurso esencial para investigadores, profesores y diseñadores de currículos que buscan actualizar sus métodos pedagógicos.
