Comparative analysis of the Universities of Honduras according to Webometrics Ranking
Abstract
Discriminating information on the Internet and making academic research visible is a challenge. In a data-saturated digital environment, researchers navigate through large amounts of information to find the most relevant and reliable results. To identify new research, search engine algorithms and social platforms prioritize certain content over others, making it difficult for academic research to reach its audience. The objective of this research is to quantitatively analyze the visibility of the research of the universities of Honduras, based on the classification of the Web Ranking of Universities (Webometrics) during the years 2022 to 2024 through the technique of documentary and information analysis. Of the 21 Honduran universities, 16 have been classified, UNAH, EAP and UNITEC have occupied the first three positions at the national level in that period, maintaining the same positions in the Impact, Openness and Excellence indicators. The centralization of the websites of each of the university departments is suggested, the continuous updating of the web pages, review of the quality of the links and improvement in the communication and dissemination of research results.
