Indicadores de impacto en revistas de ciencias sociales. Una revisión exploratoria desde una perspectiva global y latinoamericana

Resumen
La evaluación del impacto de las publicaciones científicas en ciencias sociales ha sido tradicionalmente dominada por indicadores basados en citas, los cuales presentan limitaciones al no capturar el impacto integral, sino solo académico, de la ciencia. Este estudio tiene como objetivo analizar el estado del arte sobre el uso de métricas tradicionales y alternativas en la evaluación del impacto de revistas científicas en ciencias sociales, tanto a nivel global como en el contexto latinoamericano mediante una revisión exploratoria de la literatura científica. La revisión se basó en protocolos rigurosos de búsqueda, cribado y codificación en bases de datos internacionales (Scopus y Web of Science), que permitió identificar un corpus de 147 artículos relevantes. La información fue clasificada en cuatro categorías temáticas y se aplicó un análisis de relaciones semánticas mediante VOSviewer para detectar patrones conceptuales y tendencias emergentes. Entre los resultados más relevantes, a nivel global,se observó la creciente presencia de estudios sobre análisis para identificar las relaciones entre métricas alternativas y citas en donde el indicador lectores en Mendeley es de gran interés, aunque su correlación con las métricas tradicionales es moderada o débil. Asimismo, se identificó una evolución temática desde enfoques centrados en citación hacia el análisis de impacto social y visibilidad digital, especialmente en redes sociales. A nivel regional, se observa una creciente adopción de métricas alternativas en América Latina, aunque con desafíos persistentes en cobertura, visibilidad y reconocimiento institucional. Estos hallazgos reafirman la necesidad de repensar los modelos de evaluación científica, especialmente en ciencias sociales, integrando enfoques más inclusivos, contextualmente sensibles y alineados con los cambios del ecosistema académico contemporáneo.
