Abstract

The representation of space in literature is analyzed, in conjunction with the construction of subjective identity, in Yvain ou le Chevalier au Lion. This analysis focuses on the construction of limited spaces against the fear of infinity starting from two conceptual bases. Firstly, the perspective of current aesthetic philosophy is developed in the study of art in relation to emotions. Secondly, the theory of Blumenbergian metaphorology is developed on the subject’s way of surviving in the world and of constructing rhetorical projections and fictional constructions capable of confronting fears and representing an illusion of security.
