Abstract

The Austro-Hungarian Empire (1866-1918) was and is one of the most discussed and researched periods of European History. Various historical, cultural, philosophical and literary studies have attempted to unravel its different aspects. However, our understanding of the Monarchy and the research to it has not been completed yet. Owing to the scientific resources made available by the Cultural Studies, a revision of previous analyses can still provide us with great understanding of the complex topic. This essay proposes a new methodological viewpoint considering the Monarchy by re-interpreting the different traditions of the various scientific fields of study.
