Abstract
Objective: to determine whether emotional intelligence predicts increased resilience in cervical cancer survivors in Arequipa. Method: the research design was simple predictive with a cross-sectional design to analyze the influence of dimensions of emotional intelligence on resilience. A total of 100 women between the ages of 23 and 87 who had been diagnosed with cervical cancer and were undergoing different treatments were assessed. The instruments used were the Brief Emotional Intelligence Inventory for Senior Citizens and the Brief Resilient Coping Scale. Data were processed using Mplus software version 8.4. Results: Stress management and positive mood were found to increase resilience. Conclusions: The results show the importance of mental health interventions in the presence of chronic disease, emotional intelligence in its dimensions of stress management and mood have a positive impact on the resilient behaviour of women with cervical neoplasia undergoing different treatments.
