Observe and be affected. New equation and new statute of truth and knowledge about prison
Abstract
This article uses, in its first part, Michel Foucault's basic concepts that will be used, in its second part, as a "toolbox" to examine a particular case: the one related to the Quatre Camins prison riots (Catalonia) that took place on April 30, 2004. The breaking of a dogmatic monopoly of knowledge about the penal and penitentiary system, and the consequent production of a new status of truth, were possible when the undervalued knowledge crystallized in an unexpected protagonism. The emergence of a new truth must be read as an axis of the folds of power relations, of punitive power, in this case.
