Abstract

This papers considers three elements to be key in order the school to build a democratic society. Firstly it has to guarantee school success for almost everyone, meaning by that reaching a degree of postcompulsory secondary education. Secondly, teaching should promote active implication by the part of pupils in their learning process as it happens to be in the so called democratic schools. And finally, educational community participation devices should be boosted through school councils as established by law.
