Russian-Ukrainian war from neoclassical realism

Abstract
Relations between Ukraine and Russia can be analysed from the realist paradigm of International Relations. However, Russia's foreign policy has not always reacted similarly to the structural stimuli affecting its relations with Ukraine. Therefore, this paper will analyse the relations between the two states and their current war according to the postulates of neoclassical realism. We believe it offers a much more adequate theoretical framework for understanding how Russia's domestic political issues affected its responses to systemic imperatives, while also providing a consistent base for identifying future trends.
