Effects from “Water Blueprint” in Spanish farming
Abstract
This article tries to situate Commission´s Water Blueprint in European water regulations. The legal sources analysis shows clearly that Water Blueprint is the European Action Plan to apply the water policies into effect, supported by UE. It underlines that the Plan is too supported by EEA´s technical reports and assessments. Likewise, the article identifies Blueprint´s contents and aims, and it assesses the impact of its measures on farming, particularly, on Spanish´ irrigation systems. Finally, it proposes that farmers of irrigation system should participate in Water Blueprint implementation, mainly in: water use metering, water infrastructures needs explanation, river ecological flows calculation, power efficiency and hydroeconomic models design.
