Abstract

The exhibition «Beauties of the Floating World: Bijin-ga in the Golden Age of Ukiyo-e. The Pasamar-Onila Collection» held at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, offers the public the opportunity to engage with an outstanding selection of Japanese prints from an important Zaragoza-based collection, presented for the first time in Madrid. The exhibition provides a comprehensive survey of prints within the genre of images of beautiful women (bijin-ga), alongside other female-centered themes, spanning a chronological arc from the emergence of full-color woodblock printing (nishiki-e)—notably associated with Suzuki Harunobu—to the late Edo period, culminating in works by Utagawa Kunisada.
