Abstract
Pedro Iacobelli's work seeks to visualize the modes of knowledge, narratives and perspectives that existed about Asia, in particular the case of Japan and China in Chile at the end of the nineteenth century and that prevailed until the twentieth century. Narratives that were building the understanding of the other (especially Japan and China) from the ignorance, exoticism and orientalism embodied in the chronicles of Chilean travelers, impressions of businessmen, diplomats and the Chilean press.
