Focus and Scope

Mediterranean Botany (ISSNe 2603-9109) publishes original research in the field of Botany, including plant systematics, biogeography, evolutionary biology, ecophysiology, community ecology, ethnobotany and conservation biology, with a geographic scope on Mediterranean biomes around the world. Research on other bioclimatic regions or biomes is only accepted when addressing questions with interest to the geographic scope of the journal (e.g. evolutionary lineages related to current plant diversity in Mediterranean biomes) or in the context of special issues focused on wide topics of plant sciences.

Contribution types

Applied Botany, studies on plant sciences with applications in pharmacology, forestry, agriculture, and the relationships between plants and humans.

Systematics, Taxonomy, and Nomenclature, studies on the diversity and origins of living plants. Phylogeny reconstruction, comparative morphology, classification above species level and nomenclature.

Plant Ecology and Conservation, studies on the ecological distribution and abundance of plant species and populations, including approaches for plant conservation and understanding alien floras.

Vegetation Ecology, studies on the patterns and processes of plant communities and related habitats or ecosystems, including the former Phytosociological Nomenclature section of the Journal.

Botanical Checklists, floristic studies, based on a critical evaluation and updated taxonomy, of Mediterranean biomes. The authors must submit an electronic appendix in a readable format that will be freely accessible on the journal website.

Publication Frequency

Two issues per year with continuos periodicity

Interoperability protocols
