Representations of Death in Galician Cinema
Abstract
This article examines representations of death in Galician cinema, focusing on productions from the last three decades. From narratological and iconographic perspectives, it considers nonfiction films, hybrid works, and auteur fiction. The study shows that death usually functions as a narrative catalyst but acquires greater centrality in contemporary cinema through its links with mourning, memory, landscape, and traditional Galician worldviews.
