Keywords: Annals, Medieval Historiography, Manuscripts, BITAGAP

Abstract

Over the past decade, the Bibliography of Ancient Galician and Portuguese Texts (BITAGAP), part of the Philobiblon project, has discovered, identified, and made known several Portuguese annals texts written or compiled between the late 14th century and the early 16th century. This work provides a more detailed understanding of these texts, following a general contextualization of their characteristics and relationships with other types of texts, particularly chronicles.
