Meton of Athens: An Astronomer in the Democratic Landscape of the Polis

Resumen
La democracia ateniense del siglo V asistió a una expansión del conocimiento. Una parte estaba estrechamente asociado con las instituciones, con localizaciones que estaban bien definidas en la topografía urbana, sin embargo, el conocimiento nuevo es más difícil de localizar. Es relevante que dos testimonios sitúan al astrónomo Metón en la Pnyx (Philoch. FGH F 122) y en el teatro de Dionisio (Ar. Nu. 992-1020) lo que implica que aparecía ante amplias audiencias. Esta situación nos permite explorar la percepción social de un nuevo conocimiento en Atenas y entender la singular mezcla de realismo y humor que expresa Aristófanes
