Abstract

The scholars who studied the origin of the Inquisition Council, always stated the serious hurdle that they found while developing their works, due to the lack of documentation in relation with the first decade of their path (1488-1498), coincident with the last ten years of fray Tomás de Torquemada as the first general inquisitor of the Holy Office. In the present article, a diplomatic clasification of the institutional documentation issued by this Council is offered, based on a line-up of original models which are nowadays preserved in different archives.
