Keywords: Emperor Frederick II of Swabia, Kingship, Royal Sacredness, Royal Iconography, Representation of the Power

Abstract

The royal sacredness of Frederick II of Swabia (subject extensively investigated by historiography) is here studied analysing a source, indeed, not much investigated by historians: the iconographic sources (and in particular throught the analysis of the official representations of the Swabian emperor). Specifically, adding to the latters also the study of the written sources, the subject of the king like Lex animata in terris as element of the kingship of Frederick II is analysed.
