Abstract

The article seeks to discuss the phenomenon of personal photographic collections from the viewpoint of documentary management and its delicate relationship with memory preservation. A better definition of the characteristics of photographs in personal collections is proposed, considering the meaning variations that images may have over time, depending on new contexts. The questions are developed based on three examples and the conclusion point to the need for context for the documentary management of personal holdings.
