Jobs with environmental risks: Towards a comprehensive protection of occupational health
Abstract
There is evidence about the negative impact of climate change on work. And possibly one of the fields in which the interrelationship between climate change and work is clearer is that of occupational health and safety, as it has caused that some labour risks have been intensified, particularly in certain sectors, and other new risks have emerged. However, the legislation about labour risks prevention does not always give a suitable response to them. From this perspective, this paper deals with the impact of climate change on occupational health and assesses the adequacy of the legislation on labour risks prevention to face up these challenges. Finally, it makes some proposals to modify the law to achieve a comprehensive protection of workers health in this context.
