Prosodic analysis of discursive conflict in family and couple contexts: a preliminary exploratory study
Abstract
This research article presents an exploratory study on the prosodic analysis of discursive conflict in samples taken from a corpus of colloquial conversations. The aim is to identify various acoustic-prosodic parameters that help to delimit and characterize conflict sequences among family members and friends as well as among romantic partners. Additionally, it seeks to preliminarily characterize types of conflicts, determine if prosodic markers act as demarcation mechanisms for conflict, verify if prosodic markers can contribute to characterizing prevalent types of conflict, and if they behave differently according to the type of relationship between the participants in the conflict. In summary, this work offers an initial exploration of the prosodic analysis of discursive conflict based on data from colloquial conversations.
