Abstract

The study of different portrait galleries in the Statement ministries and in other official offices allows us to know the sense and the evolution of them between 1848 (when the first gallery was created, with a backwards sense) until the Segunda República. The principal projects are analyzed with special detail. Some of them served as a model for the following galleries, and other projects had a particular and special approach.
