Abstract

The research based on the Social Model of Disability, which understands disability as a social construction based on human rights, presents the support measures of the Institute of Employment and Professional Training (Instituto de Formação e Emprego Profissional - IEFP), a public employment service in Portugal, and their applicability in inclusión employment of people with disabilities and incapacities. It is a political conception for the interpretation of reality aiming at social transformation, by intending to contribute to the emancipation of people with disabilities and to a more sustainable and inclusive society. The study analyzes an integrated set of measures to support the qualification and employment of people with disabilities, using interviews and statistical data provided by the IEFP and a Resource Center that integrates this public in Portuguese territory.

Inácia Esteves, University of Évora

PhD student in Sociology at the University of Évora, with a Master's Degree in Strategic Management of Human Resources and a Degree in Human

Resource Management. She is a collaborating member at the Interdisciplinary Center for Social Sciences (Centro Interdisciplinar de Ciencias Sociais - CICS.NOVA). Developing the thesis” The Employability of People with Disabilities – Sociological Analysis of Policies and practices”, under the guidance of Professor Dr. Maria da Saudade Baltazar

Superior technician in the Municipality of Moita, where it performs functions in the area of inclusion.
