From temporal adverbs to discourse markers: the organization of Lysias’s speeches
Abstract
This paper offers a study of the temporal adverbs εἶτα, ἔπειτα, ἔτι and προσέτι and the adverbialized adjectives (τό) πρῶτον and (τό) τελευταῖον in Lysias’s Speeches. Our purpose is to show how, from their original temporal value, these words develop discursive usages that contribute to organize the discourse.
