Abstract

This article suggests new phonetic interpretations for two words that appear in the Celtiberian bronze from Torrijo (terkininei and eskenim) from which new morpho-etymological possibilities are drawn. For terkininei it is proposed [tregnīney], dative singular of a possible i-stem *tregnīniseskenim could be read [eχskenim] and at least two possible morpho-etymological interpretations have been identified: *egʰs-ken-im or *egʰs-kenh1-im. Other forms such as eskeiniseskeninumgenis and gentis are also commented. Finally, some reflections on the dual writing system in various Celtiberian documents are proposed.
