Female autographs, absent husbands, and religious seclusions in Ptolemaic Egypt: translation and commentary of UPZ I 59
Abstract
Along with the translation of UPZ I 59 –the first to be made into Spanish–, we offer an extensive commentary on this papyrus letter, trying to frame it in its historical context and analyzing its most problematic aspects, such as its dating, the question of its authorship, and especially the central concept of ἐγκατοχή, whose various interpretations are reviewed.
