Abstract

This article analyzes the archaeology of the anthropological machine that Agamben develops in L’aperto. L’uomo e l’animale. It thus studies how the division is generated, inward and outward of our bodies, between the human and the animal, and the consequent creation of these two operative fictions that allow us to decide on the very humanity of those around us and on the legitimacy of violence. Finally, we will show Agamben's attempt to overcome this division through a work within Heideggerian philosophy that remains, however, still imprisoned by the anthropological machine.
