More than just a mention in the credits: Mario Levrero’s influence in "Hiroshima" by Pablo Stoll

Abstract
The closing credits for Hiroshima (2009), the first solo feature film by the Uruguayan director Pablo Stoll, reveal that two scenes were loosely inspired by the novel La ciudad (1970), written by his compatriot Mario Levrero, whose name also figures in the list of acknowledgements. However, Hiroshima is far from being considered a film adaptation of his work, though his influence flies over the film, providing a very particular attitude towards the representation of the world. Stoll reflects and assimilates this attitude by transposing it in cinematographic terms, thus resurfacing one of the most original voices of his country’s prose.Format
